After Monday's lunch was over,We had the day to soak in the islands history. At 11:30 a.m. we gathered with a small group from NASA and contracted Engineers to witness a missle launching!!! I was lucky enough to capture it on video while the guys tried to take a picture of it and only got smoke! The missle launches quickly and is realy loud too! Can't wait to show the video to my friends and family...
Touring the Jungle...
Once the missle launch had concluded, Damon and I set out in one of the golf carts provided to us in order to cruise the islands jungle for ruins from the bunkers that have been left untouched since the invasion in the beginning of WWII. Not only was the weather a challenge, I could only imagine what it was like to storm the beaches of this island 60 years ago - when it was fortied by the Japanese Army and had been used as the command center for attacking Pearl Harbor... Damon and I took several pictures of the bunkers and soon found ourselves under attack from another Army not mentioned by anyone, but the red ant! They were everywhere... While cruising the jungle for cool photo, if you stepped inthe wrong place, these red ants wold be on your shoes and up your legs in seconds... It was pretty crazy to see all of this.
Friends from Roi
With the missle launch a success a quick tour of the islands bunkers, 4:30 p.m. was quickly approaching... There just didn't seem to be enough time to absorb all that Roi had to offer... Back on Kwaj, Allison Lord and company were preparing for a BBQ going away party for us, but before we left Roi, Paris and I each took a picture with Stephen Fry, one of the police officers on the island
